Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School
It is their hope of ensuring that the community they have built offers the best Catholic education for the 21st century. Their flexible learning spaces offer the perfect physical environment for personalized and co-operative learning that prepares students for continuous learning. They’re committed to ensuring that children are successful in the core competencies of numeracy and literacy, and also a deeper knowledge and understanding of the ever-changing world through a philosophy of inquiry and learning with a Catholic perspective, Faith & Life Inquiry.
Their goal is to create modern, contemporary, and innovative approach to education that is relevant and meaningful to the needs of families and children today. Their goal is to be a lively professionally-led learning environment that promotes thinking and learning and showcases the same through actions that are authentic in their learning community and the larger community. They believe in collaboration in learning and are open to participation from all members in and outside of their learning community.
The reality that the school is an honorary name worthy of one of most well-known saints of the past, St Teresa of Calcutta calls students to take action like Mother Teresa did. They are expected to be kind and compassionate and to offer assistance to everyone.
Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School is a school run with the approval by the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is managed and administered through Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS).
MACS oversees and manages 292 Catholic schools across the Archdiocese in order to carry on their mission to provide Catholic education in order to spread that Good News and equip their children with the wisdom and skills to live fulfilling lives and make a difference in the world around them.
Since the noble job of educating children is a shared responsibility undertaken by each member of the Catholic school community school, School Advisory Councils have been established to serve as a vital way to connect the school community as a whole and school officials.
The model of governance was created to reduce the administrative burden of their schools and parishes, and allow parish priests to concentrate on the task of education within the parish, facilitate greater collaboration between schools and the consistency of school procedures and policies.
Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School is designed to accommodate students of the 21st century. Their facilities offer a range of different outdoor and indoor learning areas.
The most significant aspect of their land to their land is Olrig Homestead, which was the first homestead of the pioneering farmer James Malcolm. For more information on Olrig Homestead refer to the Olrig Homestead tab.
Presently Olrig Homestead is the centre of their Sustainability Hub. The hub is an education space, which provides learners with opportunities to participate in sustainable learning, including gardening and worm farming.
The play areas they have comprise the Adventure Playground proudly financed by their Parents and Friends fundraising efforts.
The Tennis and Basketball Courts allow children to take part in various sports. The Soccer field and the Football area let children participate in the games at recess time or lunchtime in addition to their education in physical fitness. A small room adjacent to their Tennis/Basketball Courts includes toilets and a kitchenette, and a bathroom. The hall is used for the Extend OSHC Program.
Many of the passive learning and play areas offer students the opportunity to enjoy a sandpit, sing or dance on stage, and take part in various math-related learning activities related to measurement. Outdoor learning spaces give students to take advantage of the elements while engaging in both group and individual learning activities.
They Kitchen Garden and Orchard provide students with the chance to grow, nurture and harvest vegetables and fruits to use in their kitchen. The students cook in their kitchens, making meals two times a week for their community of learners.
